When you picture a vacation in your mind, you probably conjure up pictures of gorgeous sandy beaches, swaying palm trees kissed by a tropical breeze, and a nice cool drink in your hand as you look out over the pristine water. For many, this is the idea of a perfect vacation, and if you are among those people, then you are going to want to visit Oahu on a Hawaiian vacation. The island has plenty of things for you to enjoy and do while you are there. Of course, one of the best activities is simply to do nothing, just to lounge on the beach and sip a drink while watching the waves lap against the shore.

For those who want to get up and get active, don’t worry. You are going to have plenty of different options! Here are a few ideas for while you are at the beach.

Beach Fun Hawaiian Style

Check out the North Shore and watch some of the waves. This area has some of the best surfing in the world, and it’s a popular spot to go and watch some excellent surfers. You will even be able to take some surfing lessons if you would like, although you probably shouldn’t expect to be able to handle some of the larger waves. Still, it’s great fun to try to get up on the board. Another beach activity that you will want to attend is a luau. You’ve probably seen them on television or in movies before, and if you’ve never attended one in person, you are going to want to make that part of your plan for Oahu. They have great food and great entertainment. The beach isn’t the only place that you will want to visit though. The Polynesian Cultural Center is the perfect place to learn more about the culture of the indigenous people of Hawaii. It’s great to be able to learn firsthand from those who are an actual part of the culture. You will also be able to explore some great museums. One of the most popular area museums is the Bishop Museum. It is the largest museum in Hawaii and features cultural artifacts and scientific exhibits. It’s a popular destination. Another popular destination is Pearl Harbor. You can visit the exhibits at the museum and learn about the devastation caused by the attack on December 7, 1941. Hiking, fishing, shopping in Honolulu, and exploring the nightlife are all other things that you will be able to do when you are on vacation in Oahu. The island has something for everyone – whether you want to do nothing or whether you want to explore every inch of the island. It is always a good idea to look at some of the things that you can do before you land on the island. Having a plan of action for your vacation can help to ensure that you get to do everything you want during your trip to the island.
